All Australian Student Visa’s are managed by Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC)
Requirements for a student Visa’s vary depending on the intended course/s of study and citizenship
There are in total seven sub class Student Visa’s. Your visa sub-class depends on your intended study. Each sub-class has different requirements
Visa Sub Classes
570 – Independent ELICOS
571 – Schools
572 – Vocational Education and Training
573 – Higher Education
574 – Postgraduate Research
575 – Non-Award
576 – AusAID or Defence
The class of visa required is dependent on the highest level of study. A Student who has a package of courses with a clear pathway i.e. 20 weeks ELICOS then a Diploma would require a 572 (Vocational Education and Training) sub class visa. A student with an intended course of study of 20 weeks ELICOS, an Advanced Diploma, then an Undergraduate Degree would require a 573 (Higher Education) sub class visa.
Pre assesment requirements will vary depeding in the assesment level of the applicant.
Visa Duration
The duration of the student Visa is determined by the duration of the course/s specified by the eCOE (Confirmation of Enrolment)
Assessment Levels (AL)
All countries are assess by DIAC and have a rating from 1 (Low risk) to 4 (High risk). Assessment levels are based on how students comply with the regulation of their student Visa.
